One of the first steps on the road to Cub Scouting is to earn your Bobcat badge. All boys, regardless of what level they join, must first learn seven items to earn their Bobcat. The Bobcat information is located in the front of your Cub Scout Handbook. Our pack has adopted one of these items to use as a guideline for how we run our pack:
Den Meetings-3rd and 4th Thursday of each Month 7-8pm
The Cub Scouting program takes place at two levels. Your son will be part of a den, a small group of boys in the same grade level who usually meet weekly.
All dens make up the Pack.
Kindergarten- Lions
1st grade- Tigers
2nd grade- Wolves
3rd grade-Bears
4th grade- Webelos
5th grade- Arrow of Light
Pack Meetings-1st Thursday of each Month 7pm-8pm
The Cub Scout pack is made up of all the dens, which meet monthly at the pack meeting, led by the Cubmaster. This is the climax of the weekly den meetings and activities. There are games, skits, songs, ceremonies, and presentations of badges that boys earned during that month. This is where families—not just parents, but siblings, too—can see the achievements of their Cub Scout.
Parent Leader Meetings - 2nd Monday of each Month 7:15pm-8pm
This is a once monthly planning meeting open to all parents of the Pack.
Our sign up meetings take place during our regularly held Pack meetings. A Pack meeting, held once a month is a congregation of all the Dens in our Pack (i.e. Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos and Arrow of Light). Parents are encouraged to attend with their son to both observe and participate, and finally to sign up to become a scout!
Our Pack dues are $75 collected every November. Pack dues cover the cost of National membership and awards earned throughout the year. Events like the pine wood derby, rain-gutter regatta and various activities like the blue-gold dinner and pizza and movie night are funded through our selling Trails-end popcorn and our annual fundraiser dinner.
Each Den meets on average two times a month, with periodic field trips. The scout uniform and book costs on average $75, but the scout will wear the uniform for four years if they begin as a Tiger (so buy it a little big to allow for growing room!).
